Queen City Lady
The 1861 Journal of Amanda Wilson
Amanda Wilson's journal chronicles her life during the first year of the Civil War. Though she supported her nation's cause, the
29-year-old agonized over the safety of her husband and brother, both volunteers. Her sorrows and joys will affect us, almost as if she were a close friend.
Drawing by Catherine V. Cress
This Cincinnati woman participated in her city's activities as it struggled to meet war's challenges. Each of Amanda's entries will draw us closer to her, and her life in the Queen City.
Even though Amanda Wilson's thoughts were written over 150 years ago, it will be as if she is alive and sitting in a chair right next to us!
